I started like anyone else would have; with an idea. I lived in New York City for a while, studying what I thought I wanted to study and being someone who I thought I needed to be. I didn't know anyone despite having worked and studied along side hundreds of people. One night in my lonely one-bedroom apartment I started writing; I wrote about obvious things around me. I wrote about the weather, how awful "elevator traffic" is, and where to find Corn Beef Hash in Brooklyn ( because it's IMPOSSIBLE to find). I wrote about everything around me and then I ripped it into sections and left them anywhere between Ovington Avenue in Brooklyn to 14th East 4th street in Manhattan. I won't tell you where I moved to from New York but I will tell you that I had fallen in love in the most unlikely circumstance; we can call this love of mine Afton. Now Afton and I loved to hate each other, we had the strangest relationship. This person was intelligent, kindhearted, motivated, and had fallen behind their life-goal. Unfortunate circumstances had brought Afton down to a dark place, one that I couldn't help raise him/her from. So, I loved from afar and we grew apart. I started sending anonymous letters and inspirational quotes to let this person know how much of an effect they had on just one person, and how they could effect hundreds maybe even thousands more by just continuing to be a strong and focused individual.
Afton moved out of state and began studying at Columbia.
So now I write to strangers. I write to you; I write to you because I know that you have hit snags in the road but that in the end, you will prevail. I send out letters to different parts of the world, my letters are never the same, but the message is always similar. I want you to succeed, I want you to know that someone cares, I want you to know that your going to change someone's life if you haven't already. This all started with a small idea, in a small apartment, with a big love that changed my life.
